LUDC is active in several different areas of diabetes research. The aim is to identify the genetic factors responsible for development of diabetes, sick how they interact with the environment and then to integrate this knowledge with identifying the pathophysiology in pancreatic islet cells and insulin target tissue.
The regional network includes near 1000 organizations working in the field of Life Sciences, Nutrition and Healthcare.

In the Silver Economy and due to life expectancy increase, NHL innovates through 2 axis:Nutritional/food innovation for elderly people anddiagnostic and therapeutic innovative solutions related to pathologies associated with ageing.
